EXCITING DEVELOPMENTS IN BASEBALL SA

As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance the governance and effectiveness of the South Australian Baseball League, the new Board as its first act, approved a new committee structure for the 24/25 Season. This structure is designed to ensure a broad representation of stakeholders and to facilitate better decision-making processes.

These committees have been delegated responsibilities by the Board to advise, make recommendations, and where appropriate, make decisions on behalf of the Board, aligning with the strategic goals of Baseball SA and adhering to our Constitution, Bylaws, and Playing Conditions.

The most prominent of these changes is the new Baseball Committee.

In general, the Baseball Committee shall have the power to inquire into and decide upon matters pertaining to the SABL Club Competition and shall be represented by a delegate from each club and association involved.

In addition to the Baseball Committee, we have the following competition related committees requiring representation from clubs. These committees in the first instance will report to the new Baseball Committee.

  • Permit Committee

  • Disputes & Protests Committee

  • Bylaws and Playing Conditions Committee

Clear terms of reference for all committees and relevant updates to the SABL Bylaws are currently being finalised and will be provided to clubs in the coming weeks.

Club Delegate and Proxy Delegate Nomination
Each club is required to nominate one delegate and one proxy delegate for the Baseball Committee. The proxy delegate will act in the absence of the primary delegate to ensure continuous representation of your club

Action Required:

  1. Nominate One Delegate: Each club must nominate one delegate for the Baseball Committee

  2. Nominate One Proxy Delegate: Each club must also nominate one proxy delegate who will step in if the primary delegate is unavailable.

  3. Optional Nominations for Other Committees: Clubs may also wish to nominate the same or different individuals for roles in the three other sub-committees mentioned above

Submissions of Nominations

Please submit your nominations using the nomination form as provided by Giang no later than Friday 19th July.

Committee Meeting Schedule

The first meeting of the Baseball Committee is scheduled for the 25th of July at Sport SA (TBC) from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Subsequent meeting dates are listed at the end of this letter and will be posted on the Baseball SA Website.

We believe these changes will significantly contribute to the growth and success of baseball in South Australia. Your prompt action in nominating the required delegates will ensure that your club is well-represented on these critical committees.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support. Should you have any questions or require further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.
