NEW CONCUSSION GUIDELINE

The Australian Institute of Sport have introduced a series of new guidelines in which each sporting code has used to modify their policies. While we work on our new policy, the AIS and SASMA have recommended the following resources for management of concussion.

  • This document was an initiative of the Australian Institute of Sport, Sports Medicine Australia, Australian Physiotherapy Association and Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians to explore concussion in sport.

If managed appropriately, most episodes of concussion resolve over a short period of time, with or without medical intervention.

Complications can occur, however, including prolonged duration of symptoms and increased susceptibility to further injury.
