U23 WORLD CUP SQUAD ANNOUCED WITH SA PITCHER AND TWO SA COACHES

Congrats to Kensington Cardinal, Adelaide Giant and U18 state team star Ali Tanner on being named to the Under 23 World Cup squad!

Ali will be the only South Australian player on the team, and also the youngest!

“After a successful Under 18 national tournament with SA in January, making the Under 23 World Cup squad was my next goal,” says Tanner. “I wasn’t necessarily expecting to make the team this year so when I was named on the initial 50-man squad I started to train even harder.”

Ali says he hopes to soak up all the experiences the tournament has to offer both on and off the field.

“I want to learn as much as possible and prove myself against a talented opposition.”

Tanner is currently part of the BaseballSA performance pathways program. He is still in Year 12, training 2-3 hours of baseball a day, working casually and hitting the gym.

He is committed to Arizona State University.

But Tanner isn’t the only South Australian involved in the squad.

Josh Tols (Woodville / Adelaide Giants) was named the pitching coach of the team. Nathan Van Der Linden (West Torrens / Adelaide Giants) continues his sensational rise up the coaching ranks, named an assistant coach on the national team.

Congrats to all!
