EAST TORRENS LAUNCH YARDBALL: A NEW INCLUSIVE BASEBALL PROGRAM
East Torrens Baseball Club (ETBC) is thrilled to announce the launch of Yardball, a unique and inclusive baseball initiative designed for children, young people, and women living with intellectual disabilities, psychosocial disabilities, or autism. Set to kick off in February 2025, Yardball aims to provide a fun, supportive, and accessible sporting environment for participants of all abilities.
Proudly funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, Yardball focuses on fostering social connections, enhancing motor skills, and promoting physical activity in a non-competitive setting. Participants will benefit from tailored programs that cater to varying levels of ability and are delivered by specially trained coaches, supported by club members and peer 'Buddies.'
Tailored Programs for All Abilities
The Yardball initiative includes four tailored programs:
Mightee-ball (Ages 4-7): A teeball-style program introducing basic baseball skills through playful activities.
Youth Programs (Ages 8-17): Two ability-level programs that emphasize participation, inclusion, and enjoyment.
Women’s Program: A dedicated space for women of all abilities to experience baseball in an empowering environment.
At the core of the program is a commitment to inclusivity and fun, ensuring participants not only learn the game but also build confidence and form meaningful connections.
