WOMEN’S WRAP UPS - WOMEN’S D1 - ROUND 12

Round 12 of Women's Division 1 saw some dominant performances, with Southern Districts, Glenelg, and Woodville all securing convincing wins.

Southern Districts BSA D1W Crush Henley & Grange BSA D1W

Southern Districts rolled past Henley & Grange 19-4 in a commanding performance. Despite Henley & Grange striking first through a Katrina Povey RBI single, Southern Districts responded immediately, capitalizing on walks and hit-by-pitches to take an early lead.

A seven-run second inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Hayley Barnes, broke the game open, and another seven-run rally in the fourth sealed the deal. Barnes led the offense with four RBIs, while Sarah Wright tallied three hits. Wendy Backman earned the win, allowing just two hits over two innings.

Glenelg BSA D1W Use Huge Fourth Inning to Shut Out Adelaide BSA D1W

Glenelg continued their strong form with a 10-0 shutout over Adelaide, powered by a seven-run fourth inning. Peyton Daniels set the tone early with an RBI double, while Sophie Wells delivered the biggest blow in the fourth, driving in three runs with a clutch single.

Daniels was dominant on the mound, pitching a five-inning no-hitter with eight strikeouts. Rebecca Saville also contributed with two hits, helping Glenelg to another comfortable victory.

Woodville BSA D1W Overpower Kensington BSA D1W with Big Second Inning

Woodville wasted no time against Kensington, using a five-run second inning to cruise to an 8-0 win. Kelsey Goldspink and Alice Brown both drove in multiple runs, while Indie OHazy-Zschorn added a key RBI single to fuel the offensive explosion.

Brown was untouchable on the mound, throwing a five-inning no-hitter while striking out six. Woodville also showed off their speed, stealing six bases in the game.

As the competition heats up in the second half of the season, teams will look to build momentum heading into the final stretch. Next week, Henley & Grange take on Glenelg, Adelaide face Kensington, and Southern Districts will try to keep rolling against their next opponent.
